Paws and Effect!
Its always a welcome refresher when you get to enjoy two days off in a row. In the restaurant industry a term that accompanies that is 'having a life away from your work'. Being able to navigate a road trip or do something away from work can be rather trying when you only get to take a day off here and there...
I find as I progress into my middle years that the interests and likes are changing. For example if you told me that in 2010 I would find myself transitioning back into a position of ambition over being a spectator to sport, I would have called you crazy. But, alas it has happened.

Back in March it was a real pleasure to reconnect with friends from my past after almost eight years. One person in particular (she goes nameless) gets the nod for getting me out of the cocoon and shell. A loner is never one to stray too far from his surroundings unless he's comfortable. It was then that I recalled how rewarding the idea of volunteering your time could be.
Prior to this day, I had only heard of the group 'Paws In The City'. In finally getting to meet such dignitaries as Tara Harper, Bobby Paschal, Lee Anne Locken, and Rich Emberlin among others I was quick to learn that in the space of five years, alot of good has come from this group in saving pets (that would otherwise be euthanized) and given a new home life. I'm all for second chances.

This day in Addison a Charity Car Wash was the order of the day as the girls from Hooters volunteered their time to wash cars for a donation from 5-7pm.
Running into people you know makes an encounter like this rather fun. Hearing stories about one's love for critters will pull at your heartstrings. Meeting new people with similar tales of hope and desire will make you want to take part.
This little critter (above inset) caught my eye and it was tough to put him back into the cage once I was done holding him. You'll often hear a tale about unconditional love with animals.
That is certainly the case for dogs. It occurs to me that after ten years of dog sitting for sister and for friends, I wonder aloud why I haven't invested in a pet? Oh yes, that would take time... Time I don't believe I have.
Of all days for an animal charity. The television was showing the Ranger game with pooches also allowed to watch the game. The real Dog Days in baseball begin in August.
As for the 'Paws In The City', the work is always ongoing. My thanks to Miss Harper and to Melissa Vullo for the info and history of this fine organization. A paws to refresh...
Over and out in Big D.
