Big Ben's Pattern Problem.
If you talked with most people in the know, they will tell you that Ben Roethlisberger is a good guy. The kind of guy who you'd go to war for. Two time Super Bowl champion for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is not to say he has had moments where you question his ability to choose wisely.
It has been said in differing degrees that when you commit a wrong, learn from the mistake and heed the lesson. If you make that same mistake again within a short period of time, some will think you are guilty of walking a slippery slope of a pattern for poor judgment.

In 2006, Ben made headlines when he failed to wear a helmet and suffered a near-fatal motorcycle accident in Pennsylvania. That was cause for some bad headlines and a question of using better judgment. He came out okay and continues to play despite being in a lot of pain after surgery.
In 2008 while in Lake Tahoe, a woman makes the claim that Ben Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her during a golf tournament. The case is still pending. Ben denies the charges and the fans want to believe.
Now another woman out of Milledgeville, Ga. is making the exact same allegation. There is a process where the authorities wish to get all the facts before filing charges. On the heels of what has happened to Tiger Woods for his indiscretions, one has to wonder about the notion of not putting yourself in slippery places amongst college kids.
Granted, Ben is single and 28, but even HE needs to know there are some things you just can't do. Before people start to the 'guilty' chant, I remind you of such examples of Tawana Brawley, Nina Sharavan, Kobe's accuser. Some people, right or wrong, can foresee a quick paycheck. Little do they realize that after the lawyers get their cut, you're able to buy a cup of coffee.
A risky game to play. A no-name person in a small town with a story that maybe isn't true, but the chance for making money is plausible, why not? It's only one's reputation that gets ruined and tarnished? That's nothing right?
Tell that to Ben. Apparently he still doesn't get it. I hope these allegations prove false. When I hear more than one person say the same thing, at the very least you begin to wonder...
I await the facts and I await the truth. I hope the truth isn't squelched or paid for.
Over and out in Big D
