Bernie and Vegas Rock the Friday...

The itinerary was announced and there was a bit of a buzz going on within the restaurant. 32 years of being in the service industry, some things simply do not change. The dining room will have one area of business/busy while the bar and cocktail lounge will inhale a different sort of fragrance in the name of business and barter.

This night there was a party for a founding father of Southwest Airlines. I didn't know the man, but I knew his birthday was tonight. The 125 people who were here to honor him was proof of an outstanding legacy. A video tribute and of course a fine course meal would add to that ambience in the Rio portion of the bar.

Later I would learn that Bernie was a spry young 79 year old. He won my heart over when he was holding a quality cigar in hand while dancing with a hot 30 year old. Maybe a friend or coworker, I didn't care! This was the man I wanted to be in 34 years!

My Jersey frat boys, The Vegas Stars were back on the River stage to keep things BADA BOOM! BADA BING! for all. I was happy to enjoy a good cigar with some good company and maybe dance once or twice. Mission accomplished on all counts!

Meghan and Mary are the two event planners here at Cool River. They do some mighty fine work getting large groups together for a myriad of party or dining needs. 98% of the time, they knock it out of the park. That other 2%? Poor communication by the customer. Oh well!

Let this serve as a friendly reminder that whenever you have a corporate or private function you would like to get taken care of in a hospitable manner and professional through and through. Meghan and Mary will certainly come through with a plausible game plan. They're real easy to locate. And they're damn good what they do!

Friday night was memorable. Now bring on the weekend!

Over and out in Big D

Mr. Will
