A Collective 15.8? Geez!
You will never hear the media talk about this or even make an admission of a connection to tragedies thereof. It can be heavy rains, snows, winds, or even quakes of such a high magnitude that one can only wonder why this can be or even how this can be?
I made an observation many many years ago. It certainly isn't anything out of the ordinary but an observation nonetheless. In the space of a few hours under the eye of a full moon we have had two horrendous earthquakes that have destroyed the areas of Okinawa Japan and Santiago Chile as well as surrounding cities. 7.0 was bad enough only to be outdone by an 8.8 shaker? That's insane.
I ask if the full moon has an effect in intensifying an already bad situation. In the same way that Neap Tide occurs under a full moon. That magnetic pull. is it possible the same dynamic happens when a natural disaster is about to happen? I seem to recall when the Loma Prieta quake of 10/17/89 happened it was very close to a full moon. The same for when Mt. St Helens erupted. These are but a few examples I was pondering. I think there is a connection.
In sadder media speak, Japan was Farrah Fawcett as Chile took on the persona of Michael Jackson for media coverage. Knowing how these events unfold, the casualty count is going to rise, sadly. Soon there will be Youtube images of how violently the earth shook on February 26th into the morning of February 27th.
As if Haiti is now going to be forgotten after what happened there six weeks ago. At some point there is a time for healing, rebuilding and moving on. There will be a multitude of jobs to be done in the name of infrastructure, construction, health, clothing, donations, emergency shelter, and so on. Sad, so sad. Life does however go on.
It has been amazing to watch all the communicating going on for victims reaching out to families via the Twitter and Facebook brigade. This can only help.
Late afternoon before I head out to Park Cities for a birthday get-together and a nightcap somewhere in Uptown... Let's hope the Full Moon does not cause any problems... The irony of all this? Tomorrow will mark fifty years to the day since the U.S. won a Gold medal in the Olympics for hockey. Care to guess when Chile last suffered such a horrible temblor? 1960! Weird.
All the best to those with families in earthquake ravaged areas.
Over and out in Big D
