#9 #9 #9!
I could not have scripted this any better. I had flashbacks of 1986 when in Anaheim, watching the Red Sox get to within ONE STRIKE of elimination before Dave Henderson took Donnie Moore deep. The air in Anaheim Stadium was taken out of their sails...I remember.
Tonight in the 9th inning the Rangers were an out away from a 3 run victory. Of course the Angels have a great hitting team. Juan Rivera tied things up at 7 with one swing in the 9th. There were boos in the crowd of 27000...

In the last of the ninth, Hank Blalock, having already homered earlier in the game, coming off an 0 for 10 slump, came to the plate with Michael Young on second. The very first pitch-BLAM!-a straightaway shot that gave Hank and the Rangers a walkoff 9-7 win. It was the first for Blalock. Hank wears the number 9. The inning was #9, and the run scored was the 9th. I wonder if there is a significance for the number 999. Compared to 666, 777, or 888.
After being written for dead Monday night, Texas took 2 of 3 from the Angels. With an off day tomorrow and the Rays in town Friday night, the Rangers look ready to stay competitive for the summer.
Alot of work remains to be done. I am record to say that I am in Ron Washington's corner. The players love to play for him. And his mantra continues to grow legs. If they go .500 the rest of the way its an 87 win season. I'm cool with that!
A great finish that should not have been so close!
Time to eat!
Over and out in Big D
